








The Communities in the Gunungkidul area have been involved in the state forest zone since before the '90s, event without any full legal rights from the government. However, in 2003, they received temporary Community Forest right for 5 years. Finnaly, in December 15th, 2007, Vice President Jusuf Kalla & the govvernment, gave them full legal right for 35 years to 35 groups in Gunungkidul, D.I. Yogyakarta. Social Forestry (Perhutanan Sosial) is a forest management program used in Indonesia that gives the local communities the right to manage the state forest.
